The Russian Chemists Union

The Russian Chemical Union  consolidates leading production companies of Russian chemical industry, research and educational institutions as well as chemistry-related Unions, Associations and vertically integrated structures ("Sybur", "FosAgro", "LUKOIL-Neftechim", "EuroChim", "Nizhnekamskneftechim", etc.).

Russian chemical industry today is a large and complex system that incorporates petrochemical and chemical industries and other related branches. What are they?

Chemistry related industries:

• chemical machinery;
• biotechnology . 

Chemical industry:

• mining industry;
• basic chemistry;
• chemical fibers and threads;
• synthetic resins and plastics;
• polymers and plastic products, fiberglass and fiber-reinforced plastics;
• synthetic dyes;
• photo chemicals;
• household chemicals;
• other chemical industry branches.

Petrochemical industry:

• synthetic rubbers industry;
• basic organic chemistry products industry;
• technical carbon industry;
• tire production;
• rubber-asbestos products.

To comply with complex structure of chemical industry, the RCU is managed by the Board, formed by 36 professionals, each one being responsible for his specific sector of chemical industry. The Union is lead by the President and nine Vice-Presidents.

In its everyday business, the Union in involved in the development of technical regulations and legal acts concerning the circulation of chemicals and precursors, as well as other routine issues related to chemical industry.

One of the key partners of the RCU is Russian Chemical Trade Union which was a counterpart and signatory to the 2005-06 Industrial Tariff Agreement for Chemical, Petrochemical, Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Industries. The Agreement has provided stable labor relations, secured efficient operation of chemical companies, protected social and economic rights and other legal privileges of the employees.

Russian Chemical Union is one of the organizers for national and international industrial fairs and shows, held on the largest Russian sites: "Chemistry", "Plastics Industry Show", "InterLakokraska", "Tires and Rubber", "Bytchimexpo", "ExpoChemistry", "UralExpoChemistry", "AnalyticaExpo", "ChAgExpo" and others.

The Union pays utmost attention to international co-operation. As an example, the Union has signed a "Responsible Care" Protocol to urge Russian companies on voluntary compliance to international standards and regulations for labor safety and environment protection. As part of the program we organized seminars, "round table" discussions and on-site presentations to spread up the best business practice.
